Faulty streetlights

The responsibility of streetlight maintenance is shared between us and VicRoads, here's how to report a faulty streetlight.

AusNet and decorative streetlights

If you notice an AusNet or decorative streetlight not working, let us know and we’ll make sure it’s fixed as soon as possible.

To report a faulty streetlight, select ‘Streetlight fault’ in the drop-down menu on our Contact Us page. You will need to include the pole number, which can be found on the streetlight.

We can fix decorative streetlights quickly when the fault relates to the globe or wiring faults.  If the pole is damaged or needs replacement, AusNet works closely with councils, who own the poles, to arrange replacements. Occasionally, and to ensure public lighting safety, we may replace a decorative pole with a standard one. For more information, see Decorative Streetlights.

VicRoads streetlights

To report a faulty VicRoads streetlight or traffic signals, call 13 11 70.

If you're not sure of the type of streetlight that's faulty, and don't know if you should reach out to AusNet or VicRoads, see types of streetlights for more information.
