Overview:
The existing Sydenham Terminal Station is integral to the main 500kV transmission network in Victoria, supplying power to households and businesses across metropolitan Melbourne. It is also a key switching station connecting western Victoria to Melbourne and South Australia as part of the National Electricity Market.
We need to replace the gas insulated switchgear, which is a critical asset within Sydenham Terminal Station, as it is approaching its end of life.
Is there a planning permit?
A planning permit has been approved by the Victorian Minister for Planning.
When does construction start?
Construction is expected to start in 2025.
