Overview:
Origin Energy are developing a new 300MW / 650MWh BESS at the Mortlake Power Station (MOPS) in Moyne Shire.
For more information, visit Origin Energy’s website.
What does this project involve?
We will build the transmission infrastructure for the Mortlake BESS, including:
- an extension of the existing 500kV Mortlake Switchyard
- a 500kV bay in the switchyard
- a new transformer compound with two 500/33/33kV transformers
- a new 500kV harmonic filter within the switchyard.
Our mobilisation occurred in early October and is currently underway. Our scope of work is due to finish in late 2025, with the projected wrap-up expected to be complete by late 2026.
What this means for you:
We are committed to minimising construction impacts on our customers and communities. Advance notice and regular updates will be provided to landowners if works will impact their property, and we’ll try to reduce interruptions wherever possible. Once construction is complete, we will restore the project area close to its original condition.
