Received a restoration SMS from us but still no power?

Individual property connections may be impacted by the recent weather events. This is probably due to debris which has caused damage.

Even after the electricity has been restored to your area, individual properties can sometimes still be without power.

This can be due to a variety of reasons, including safety switches tripping and/or localised damage.

It can also be common for your property’s electricity to not restart automatically.

If this happens, we recommend:

  • Checking main switches and circuit breakers if there is a light on the meter.
  • Safely looking for signs of damage to your property if there is no light on the meter.
  • Checking your meter box for an advice letter or defect notice from us explaining there is repair work required before you can be reconnected. If you have received an advice letter or defect notice, please contact a local electrician to arrange repairs.
  • Checking to see if your neighbours have power restored. If there is no obvious sign as to why your power is not restored, please Contact us.

Why is it only my house or property impacted?

There are a number of reasons you may still be without power.

  • Trees or other debris may have removed or impacted your property’s wires or meter.
  • The incoming service line has broken away from your property and can’t be restored without being repaired.
  • There is a damaged installation at the point of attachment or fascia damage.
  • An inaccessible point of attachment or meter.
  • The property’s private lines are damaged and cannot be safely reconnected.

We recommend all customers use only Qualified and Licensed Electricians with a Certificate of Electrical Safety (CES).

To enable a safe reconnection, the installation needs to be compliant with the Service Installation Rules (SIR). Your electrician can provide advice on what is required to ensure the installation meets the regulations.
