22,000 AusNet customers are still without power following the catastrophic storms that swept across Victoria earlier this week.
Our field crews have restored power to 11,000 customers since 1pm today. Restoration in some locations is proving quite difficult as we get to the more remote locations in our network.
This most impacted areas of our network currently are Emerald, Cockatoo, Mirboo North, and Metung. A small number of customers in our hardest hit areas are still likely to be without power until mid-next week.
We have installed a generator in Mirboo North to provide power to the town’s essential services.
Financial relief will be available for customers affected by prolonged power outages. The Prolonged Power Outage Payment of $1,920 per week for up to three weeks will be extended to all eligible households and $2,927 per week for small businesses, also for up to three weeks.
AusNet will directly contact all customers who are eligible for relief payments next week. We will include information on our website soon.
To be eligible for a payment customers must:
- Have a residential electricity account; and
- Remain without power as at 10am Tuesday 20th February 2024, due to the recent severe weather event.
Customers will continue to receive SMS messages advising of their restoration times.
