Meter access

Find out what we need you to do so we can access and maintain your meter.

Whether you have a smart (digital) meter or a manual (analogue) one, we need to be able to access it.

Even though digital meters are read remotely, we need physical access to maintain, upgrade and repair them.

We need to access and read your manual meter four times a year.

Please keep the area around your meter clear and safe.

Tips: to clear the way

  • Tell your electricity retailer if there are issues accessing your meter, or if you have a power industry lock (which we can open with a master key).
  • Regularly prune trees or shrubs that may restrict our access to the meter.
  • Keep dogs or other pets confined when your meter reading is due.
