Farming and transmission assets have successfully coexisted for decades. We recognise the importance of maintaining your operations. We will work with you to assess your machinery and activities to help you develop safe work practices to keep your business running safely.
Certain activities near transmission lines may be approved, prohibited or require written permission from us. Following our advice and getting our permission and guidance where required will help you comply with Electricity Safety (General) Regulations 2019.
If you’re unsure whether you need permission, or can’t find guidance for a specific activity, email lmg@ausnetservices.com.au or call 1300 360 795 for advice before planning or scheduling your works.
You can apply for safety assessments and permissions through our forms, such as single purpose permits or written information. We may also be able to assist you with information that you can incorporate into your farm safety management plans, safe work procedures and worker inductions. We will work with you to provide the right advice and permission for your needs.
When carrying out permitted activities, always:
- consider other relevant factors such as weather and ground conditions
- stay clear of electricity lines, towers and other infrastructure, including any downed lines or wires.
