The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is now managing a national register of distributed energy resources, known as the DER Register. From March 2020 AusNet Services must provide details to the register for all forms of small grid-connected generation and storage (up to 30MW where not a registered generator in the market).
The DER Register will give network businesses and AEMO visibility of where DER are connected to help in planning and operating the network as it transforms. Knowing the locations and specifications of all DER connected to the electricity grid is critical for sustaining a secure and reliable electricity supply for all Australians.

For any applications you submit from from 27 February 2020 onwards:
However there is a transition period to be aware of. For applications submitted prior to 27 February 2020, continue to complete the manual EG form as per current process, and provide the manual EG form, along with the EWR and CES forms, to the Retailer.
From June 2020 onwards there will no longer be a manual EG form.
