The Victorian Big Battery is an innovative example of the Victorian transmission network transitioning to a renewable and decentralised future. It helps to keep the network stable and reliable while paving the way for greater wind and solar energy use in the future.
In partnership with Neoen, the battery was delivered in under three years from initial planning to operation. The battery stores enough energy to power over one million homes for half an hour in the event of a power outage. It aims to reduce electricity costs for consumers and the frequency of outages.
