AusNet awarded infrastructure strengthening contracts

AusNet Services (AusNet) has today been awarded contracts by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), on behalf of the Victorian Government, for several stage 1 projects outlined in the Government’s RenewableEnergy Zone (REZ) Development Plan (RDP).

AusNet has been contracted to design, construct, own and operate the Mortlake Turn-in Project and to deliver nine minor power-system augmentations across Victoria’s Murray River, South West and Central North REZs before the end of 2025.

Combined, the 10 projects are expected to unlock additional electricity transmission capacity and support the connection of more than 1,700MW of new renewable generation.

Tony Narvaez, Chief Executive Officer, said AusNet is pleased to be able to deliver these projects for the community and on behalf of AEMO and the Victorian Government.

“They will strengthen and modernise Victoria’s electricity infrastructure, contribute to the stability of the network, and help allow a smooth transition to renewables,” said Mr Narvaez.

“We look forward to working with the local community to identify opportunities for jobs and the procurement of goods and services,” he said.
